We're really pleased to install the new water refill point at County Hall. We're working with the council to provide more of them, making it easier for the Wiltshire community to tap into a healthier lifestyle and look after the environment.

The UK's Longest Established Water Cooler Company
The UK has some of the best drinking water in the world. And yet the British public still purchase around 7.7 billion single-use bottles of water every year. For many, this isn’t down to preference, it’s about availability. MIW Water Cooler Experts has been working with some of the UK’s water authorities to remedy this, with the installation of public drinking fountains and bottle fillers.
With more than 30 years’ industry experience, MIW has developed its service, products and techniques in order to answer the changing needs of our growing client base. Including the increasing demand for outdoor hydration facilities. It is this that has made us the UK’s leading specialist on indoor and outdoor refillable bottle stations. And that’s why we are now the go-to brand for water authorities looking to increase public awareness and consumption.
Serving the UK’s water authorities
Water authorities can seem a little anonymous to the public. Householders have little interaction other than a quarterly bill. Community bottle fillers and drinking fountains provided by water authorities can stand as something of a public face for the organisations. So, the choice and quality of equipment matters. Hydration facilities shouldn’t just meet safety and hygiene standards, but should be easy to use, always accessible and appealing. MIW has worked hard to build a catalogue that can answer these needs, including specialist products manufactured and supplied only by MIW.
What water authorities should look for in public drinking equipment
Safety and hygiene
We are proud to work with WRAS-approved equipment only. This is not a legal obligation in the UK, but it is the only way to guarantee that water supply apparatus is fully compliant with all Government – and water authority – guidelines.
Many of the drinking fountains and bottle fillers we supply have hands-free operation. This alone can significantly reduce cross-contamination and enhance hygiene levels. Most units also come with silver-ion antimicrobial coating to prevent bacteria from adhering to the surface of the equipment. While lead reduction and UV filtration is available on some of the latest products, working to destroy 99.99% of waterborne bacteria, including E. coli.
Ease of use and accessibility
The vast majority of the drinking equipment we supply is now wheelchair accessible, while the simple hands-free and push button operation ensure that as wide a number of people as possible can use it.
Given the need for the bottle fillers and drinking fountains to be stationed outdoors in all weathers, we also offer a selection of innovative new water stations with built in freeze protection. These are guaranteed for between five and 25 years. And if you are working in a particularly cold region, we can customise your equipment with additional freeze protection to ensure that it is useable for the entire year.
As well as technical upgrades, MIW can take care of any aesthetic or branding requirements you might have for your hydration facilities. The appearance of bottle fillers and drinking fountains can be the first barrier to their being used. Customisation not only allows you to enhance the visual appeal of the equipment, but also ensure that your messaging is seen.
Any unattended public-facing equipment needs to be installed with security in mind. That’s why we’ve worked with some of the world’s leading manufactures, including Elkay/Halsey Taylor, to deliver refill points and drinking fountains with additional security features. These include fixed security access panels to stop suspect packages being hidden inside the equipment. They also work well to deter any petty vandalism.
And with security in mind, all of MIW’s service engineers are enhanced DBS vetted prior to appointment. That we implicitly trust our team members isn’t enough – you need to trust them too. That is why we have in instilled a code of accountability. And every one of our team adheres to it.
Above and beyond bottle fillers
It’s our commitment to quality and service that has seen MIW become a voice of trust in the industry. We will never shirk responsibility and if there is a problem we will always try to help, whether equipment has been purchased outright or is being provided on a turnkey rental agreement.
We provide a range of aftercare services, including full sanitation, maintenance, servicing and periodic upgrades. And whether you’re ordering a single unit or several hundred, we pledge to always ensure that you get the best product and service for your needs and your budget. We can even help with publicity, should you be looking for a large-scale launch.
In the Victorian era, the UK was a pioneer when it came to public drinking water provision. All but eliminating typhoid in a few short years, thanks to drinking fountains. Today we have a whole new set of environmental issues that drinking fountains could remedy. The UK could easily become a pioneer once more. We have worked broadly with charities and have been a significant player in the Refill movement to that end. And now we would like to help you play your part.
