Paultons Park

Paultons Park and MIW

Paultons Park is one of the biggest theme parks in the UK. Home to the official Pepper Pig Land, the 140-acre site attracts more than 1 million visitors a year. And in 2019, it was voted the UK’s best amusement park by Trip Advisor for the fourth year running. Part of its success is due to the facilities it provides. In 2019, Paultons enhanced those facilities two new bottle refill stations, selected to both provide free water for customers and reduce waste plastic on site. The park commissioned MIW Water Cooler Experts to manage the installation.

The Brief

The Paultons Project Management Team had a strong idea of what they needed MIW to deliver.
 

  • MIW’s initial role would be to advise the Paulton’s Project Management Team on product specification, logistics and installation
  • The water dispensers installed at Paultons would need to be outdoor rated, have a bottle refilling provision and comply with all water authority and UK Government health and safety standards. They needed to be easy to use, low maintenance, vandal resistant and wheelchair accessible. The units would also have to be able to cater for a high number of users in peak periods. And be functional year-round.
  • Once a suitable bottle filler had been identified, MIW would be required to carry out a site inspection and organise an installation schedule within a fixed timescale.
  • Post-installation, MIW would be responsible for the ongoing servicing, sanitising and maintenance of the bottle fillers.

The Process

Throughout this project, MIW worked closely with the Paultons Project Management Team and Technical Division to ensure a full understanding of the park’s requirements. And any technical considerations that may influence the installations.

The Paultons Project Management Team were well informed and had a very good idea of what they would need from any water dispensing equipment supplied on site. This allowed the MIW team to rapidly narrow down the selection of equipment to the Halsey Taylor 4400BF – Endura II Tubular Outdoor Bottle Filling Station.

With a solid stainless-steel body, powder coated for added protection, the Endura II bottle filler series has been specifically designed for high traffic, exposed outdoor locations. As with all equipment supplied by MIW, these bottle fillers are WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) approved, guaranteeing compliance with relevant health and safety guidelines. They are wheelchair accessible and sensor operation makes them very easy to use. They are also vandal resistant. Mains fed, these units have an endless water supply and will fill up a standard 500ml water bottle in under seven seconds, making them the ideal choice for busy locations.

Once the right bottle filler had been identified, the MIW team arranged a suitable installation time with the park, taking pains to avoid the busiest periods and visitor disruption.

 

The Completed Project

The Paultons bottle fillers were installed by MIW Water Cooler Experts in October 2019. This was well in advance of the pre-Christmas rush that Paultons had specified as the installation deadline. The project was completed to budget, with no unforeseen difficulties.

The MIW team continue to operate a regular service, maintenance and sanitisation routine for Paultons.
